Small Tortoiseshell Butterfly, 2nd version - Aglais urticae

Watercolour - image 22.5" x 16.5" (framed 35" x 28") - a butterfly commonplace as a child in the British Isles.

Painted using artist grade paints/watercolours on archival paper (Arches), typically framed under museum-quality glass with archival matting and boards.  

My 2nd version of this butterfly (currently the 1st version is in the 103rd annual juried show at the Erie Art Museum, Erie, PA, Apr 4 - Aug 27).
