GREEN PEACOCK BUTTERFLY - original watercolour

Green Peacock Butterfly - Aglais io viridis

image 23" x 15.5"

Originally given its own genus/species Inachis Io (by Linnaeus 1758), the European peacock butterfly was subsequently included in the Aglais genus alongside the tortoiseshell butterfly.  The green version is imagined from the natural red variant.

Painted using artist grade paints/watercolours on archival paper (Arches), typically framed under museum-quality glass with archival matting and boards.

Please note giclee prints of the original watercolor are available in 4 standard sizes, as well as custom-size prints available, per the PRINTS section of this website.
