America's Monarch and Quest for the Fest

America's Monarch and Quest for the Fest

"America's Monarch", a whimsical piece I submitted for the collection of works as part of the "I Stand for..." project by Quest for the Fest crew looking to create an all-inclusive art show in NE Ohio.
The piece was motivated to express my concern for the declining numbers of monarch butterflies while bringing attention to how far the butterfly migrates from Canada/Nth USA to Mexico, many temporarily gathering at Whiskey Island/Dike 14 in Cleveland.
The Quest pieces are themed based on a mason jar filled with something you care about - which was also on show at SPACES Cleveland (event link here) and the Brownhoist Bldg.

Michael Gill at CAN Journal (excellent art magazine covering Nth Ohio) wrote a tidy article describing the work and intent of the Quest:

The Quest for the Fest’s I Stand For Fest: Something Else, Entirely
